Trump is on right on Brexit, which is why we need a people’s vote

Well this has certainly been an interesting week. England crashed out of the World Cup (twice if you count their defeat at the hands of Belgium this afternoon), David Davis and Boris Johnson both resigned, and US president Donald Trump made his first official visit to the UK in his role as apparent leader of the free world. Before he was due to meet prime minister Theresa May on Thursday, Trump gave a rather inflammatory interview in the Sun newspaper, in which he claims that the PM ignored his advice Continue reading [...]

A guide to liberal faith: from a liberal

Most people are surprised when I tell them that I am a man of faith. Not because I'm some sort of deviant who left the rails of righteousness many years ago, but because I've always portrayed myself as a man of reason and logic, and I've spoken about my love and interest of science, in particular, astronomy. Now there may be some of you wondering why those things cause surprise amongst people when they learn of my faith convictions. To be honest, I often wonder the same. June is your chance to change the direction of our country

It'll come as no surprise to any of you that I'll be voting for and supporting the Liberal Democrats. But Continue reading [...]

Faith schools should be a thing of the past

It's only a week to go until the Liberal Democrats' Spring Conference in York and one policy motion in particular, has me quite animated. It's the policy motion regarding faith schools and the role they should, or shouldn't play in our education system, moving forward. Those of you know me (and for those of you don't), ought to know that religion is something I dedicated five years of my life to studying at university. It's something I feel very passionately about and am dismayed when I learn Continue reading [...]

Don’t dismiss the victory in Richmond Park; this could just be the beginning

For Liberal Democrats and remain supporters, this week brought an early Christmas present; victory in the Richmond Park parliamentary by-election. Toppling the incumbent, Zac Goldsmith, who was standing as an independent candidate after resigning from the Conservative Party over the government's plans to expand Heathrow airport, the Liberal Democrats' Sarah Olney won with 48% of the vote share and crippled Goldsmith's former 25000 majority. Adding one more MP to the Lib Dem's ranks will always be Continue reading [...]
