Shining memories…

Ah, what a lovely day it is. The sun’s shining, the BBQ is smouldering away and I could not feel happier, really.

School’s over in pretty much three days and it’s because of that I’m feeling so happy; I get to start afresh. New place, new people and a totally new life – it’s so exciting! My childhood has come to an end and the doors into my adulthood are about to fling wide open and reveal the many different paths I may take. For anyone who feels daunted by this, you should embrace it because life is for living and you can mould it into anything, absolutely anything you want.

Of course, I shall miss Rossett and Harrogate – together they’ve made me the person I am today. I have so, so many fond memories of school; the year 8 valentine disco, being in the drama club, the feeling of jubilation on the day of my last GCSE exam and all the fun times I’ve had with my ever changing group of friends. And Harrogate, where would I be without the snobbiest place I’ve ever known?

It’s given me confidence, it’s given me my personality, it’s made me the cultured, lover-of-fine-things, “posh” characteristics that I feel define who I am. I’ve had my first experience of working life here where I met my first proper girlfriend whom I adored dearly; but I realise now that Harrogate and Rossett have merely provided the foundations for my life, they’ve given me skills and experiences that I will never forget and that I will always call upon throughout my life. But now York, will be my springboard from which I catapult myself into my adult life.

So much awaits me. My university years; waking up with stinking hangovers and not wanting to go to my lectures, relationships with different people, attempting to start my political career – the list is endless!

So, this pointless rambling is really just a reflection – my thinking about the past 18 years of my life and thinking about the next whoever-knows-how-many. With only three days of school/sixth form left…it’s now that life will really start to get interesting.
